Hobby

A “hobby” is something you like doing in your free time: painting, reading, video editing, music…
“Her hobbies are tennis, football, skiing and magic.”

Spare time

Your “spare time” is the time when you aren’t working or doing other things. It’s the same as “free time”.
“What do you like to do in your spare time?”

Enjoy

If you “enjoy” doing something, you really like doing it.
“I really enjoy cooking meals for other people.”

Experience

If you’ve got “experience” doing something, you’ve done it before and learnt how to do it through practice.
“I’ve got a bit of experience fixing cars as I used to work in my mum’s garage.”

Pick up

If you “pick up” knowledge, language or information, you learn it.
“I’ve picked up a few tricks over the years.”

Make you feel good

If something “makes you feel good”, you feel very positive when you do it.
“Helping out at the volunteer centre makes me feel good.

Teach someone how to do something

If you “teach someone how to do something”, you show them how to do it.
“My uncle taught me how to cook six basic meals, which I’ve used all my life.”
